1. Are the results from a breast lift permanent?
Nothing on our body that we are born with or have been altered by cosmetic surgery is "permanent."
Our breast size can change as our weight and hormone levels change during our lives. In addition, many patients who desire a breast lift have poor skin elasticity and loss of breast volume due to fluctuations in their weight and/or following breast feeding.
Certain aspects of a breast lift, such as the position of the nipple typically does not change but the lower half of the breast can "bottom out" over time. Patients who have lost skin elasticity and have "lost" breast tissue not only desire a breast with a better shape and nipple position(breast lift) but also desire an increase in breast volume (breast augmentation). If a patient chooses a breast lift and a simultaneous augmentation, they will have to understand that like almost any medical device, the breast implant will not last forever.
2.Why would I want a breast lift?
A patient chooses a breast lift when they have a misshapen or sagging breast . A breast lift is performed in women who have enough breast tissue but desire a round and conical breast that is positioned on the chest so that it is not droopy(ptotic). 3. What should I expect during breast lift surgery?
You should expect to be asleep (general anesthetic) for 1.5-4 hours depending on the extent of the procedure. A breast lift may require minimal nipple repositioning and breast shape change or it may involve significant breast and nipple shape changes and placement of an implant.
4. Where will the surgery most likely take place?
In An accredited outpatient facility like a hospital, surgicenter or office that is properly accredited. As a consumer, check that the facility is accredited by either Jacho, Medicare, AAAASF or AAASF.
5. When Can I return to work and strenuous activity?
You can return to work in 3-7 days and resume lower body strenuous activity in 7-14 days and upper body strenuous activity in 4-6 weeks.
6. Will I require any blood transfusions during breast lift surgery?
Very unlikely unless you have a bleeding disorder.
7. Is it possible to have my insurance cover my breast lift surgery?
Insurance companies typically do not cover operations that improve appearance. Breast lift surgery is not considered an operation that restores function. This operation is done to create more youthful appearing breasts.
