An Interview With Dr.Brent Moelleken MD , A Qualified Plastic Surgeon For Moms In Glendale

1. What are the concentric (doughnut) and anchor-shaped breast lift techniques?

Concentric mastopexies involve incisions just around the areola. They are generally weaker lifts than doughnut or better yet Wise pattern (anchor) mastopexies. However, they are useful when the breast is minimally saggy.

It is a mistake to do a large lift just around the areola because the aggressive concentric mastopexy can flatten the breast and be dangerous to the blood supply of the nipple, besides looking very gathered and bad.

2. Is the placement of the nipple and areola affected by a breast lift?

Not really. The nipple position is determined in advance, and the best technique to achieve that is chosen. The technique should also make the breast shape the very nicest with the least risk to sensation and circulation.

3. Where are the incisions made during breast lift surgery?

The common types of lifts are concentric, lollipop, or anchor.

4. Does breast lift surgery require any prior medical tests?

Patients should always have a physical exam first and appropriate blood tests before any surgery.

5. What does a typical mastopexy consultation entail?

During a mastopexy consultation, the doctor performs a history and physical exam, and examines the breasts, and goes over the various options with the patients. Patients learn the costs of their surgery and have a chance to review before and after photographs.

6. Is there a lot of swelling involved with mastopexy?

The swelling after mastopexy should be very minimal.

7. When will I be able to see the results?

The results from the mastopexy procedure are immediately apparent.
