An Interview With Dr. Michael A. Jazayeri, M.D. , A Qualified Plastic Surgeon For Moms In Los Angeles

1. Are the results from a breast lift permanent?

It depends on the patient and time. With advanced age, there is always some loosening of the skin. I doubt if a patient had a breast lift the result will remain stable when she is 80 years old!

2. Why would I want a breast lift?

A breast lift is indicated to reposition the nipple to its original position and tighten the loose skin. In most patients, a breast implant is also required to add volume to the breast.

3. What should I expect during breast lift surgery?

Most importantly is to realize there will be scars on the breast after a lift. The extent of the incisions depends on what type of lift is performed. Having performed hundreds of breast lifts, the risk of noticeable scarring is rare.

4. Where will the surgery most likely take place?

Elective aesthetic surgery is performed in an accredited outpatient surgery center.

5. When can I return to work and strenuous activity?

If your work is "sitting work", you may return to work in 7 days. However, no upper body exercise or activity is recommended for 4-6 weeks.

6. Will I require any blood transfusions during breast lift surgery?

No. I have never given a blood transfusion for a breast lift surgery.

7. Is it possible to have my insurance cover my breast lift surgery?

No. Insurance may cover a breast lift only if it is deemed medically necessary.
