How long does breast lift surgery take?



Breast lift surgery takes two hours and the patient can go home the same day.

Do I have to stay in the hospital?



No, you do not have to stay in hospital.

How much pain is there?



Pain is minimal.

It should look like the breasts before pregnancy or aging.

It will remove loose skin and tighten the breast.

No, the risks are higher of skin loss and wound healing problems.

Do I need a mammogram before breast lift surgery?



Over the age of 35 years, every woman should be getting routine mammograms. If the previous mammogram is up to date and negative, an additional image is not necessary. If a patient is due for a mammogram, our pratice will recommend an updated image.

What should I expect during the surgery?



Anesthesia

Is it possible to increase or decrease my breast size during surgery?



Yes, with a reduction to decrease and an implant to increase. Both can be done at the time of breast lift.

Can exercise tighten the skin without Breast lift?



No, it may loosen the skin.

What is Breast Lifting?



It uses incisions to remove skin to increase support of the breast. The size is not reduced, the skin is tightened. Occasionally, implants may be used in conjunction with a breast lift to increase the size of the breasts in addition to correcting the sagging of the breasts.

How is breast lift surgery done?



A number of incisions are made to remove skin to increase breast support. These can vary from small incisions around the nipple to larger incisions that extend from the nipple to the inframammary fold.

What is the recovery period like?



Short. Typically 2-3 days pain medicine is given and back to work in about 1-3 days.

Who is an ideal candidate for breast lift surgery?



Any woman with breast ptosis who is willing to accept scars to eliminate the problem.

Are there risks and complications to a breast lift surgery?



Yes, but uncommon. The biggest risk is the need for revision surgery.

How long do the results last?



5-10 years depending on pre-op exam and activity level.

How much does breast lift surgery cost?



Surgery about $4,000, but there are anesthesia and OR costs as well.

Restoring the breast to a more youthful appearance.
